ACシリーズ10作目（事実上は11作目）で、PS2最後の作品。キャッチフレーズは「誰もが生きる為に戦っている」。~
公式上では10作目ということであるが、これは「アクション版AC」の10作目を意味し、[[ACFF未]]カウントの数字である。

舞台は[[ACNX]]のエンディングからおよそ半年後。~
[[特攻兵器]]の襲来によって弱体化した企業（[[ミラージュ]]・[[クレスト>クレスト・インダストリアル]]・[[キサラギ]]）は[[アライアンス]]を結成。~
それによって世界は安定したかに見えたが、突如現れた[[ジャック・O]]が結成した[[バーテックス]]がアライアンスへ宣戦を布告。~
24時間後にアライアンスへ総攻撃を掛けると宣言した。~
これにより、生き残ったレイヴンたちによる生死をかけた24時間の戦いが始まった。~

システム面では新要素として[[部位破壊]]が登場。この作品の主題である“生きるか死ぬかの戦い”を演出している。~
しかし、このシステムによって[[フロート]]など一部のフレームパーツが産廃と同様になってしまっている。~
熱の仕様も改善され通常の行動だけでは[[熱暴走]]しにくくなった。~
また、[[ブレードホーミング]]も復活したが、その仕様はユーザーの満足できるものではなかった。~
その他、[[ガレージ]]の仕様が大幅に変更され、より扱いやすくなり機体の閲覧機能も加わった。機体ストックも3機から5機に増えている。~

ストーリーはシリーズで初めてマルチエンディング方式を採用しており、選択した[[ミッション]]や加担した勢力の傾向によって全6つの展開に分岐する。~
ただし、ストーリーの本筋に関わってくるルートは一部であり、中には完全に外様として扱われるエンディングも存在する。
