*名称に関する誤解 [#z8d449b0]
本来チェーンガンとは『ボルトに直結したチェーンを外部動力によって動かすことで装填-発砲-排莢のプロセスを処理する機関砲』のことである。~
チェーンの様に連鎖的に砲弾を打ち出すからチェーンガンと呼ばれるわけではないし、当然ながらベルト給弾だからチェーンガンという定義も間違いである。~
多連装砲身である[[ガトリングガン]]とは全くの別物である。(初代のモデルも単砲身のように見えるが、デザイン画では多連装になっている。)~
しかし何故か長らくカテゴリー名はチェーンガンのままにガトリングガンとしてモデリングされていたため、長きに渡って誤解の温床となっていた。~
これは初代の開発の際、銃器に詳しいスタッフが少なかった事が起因している。~
AC4ですでに多砲身のガトリングガンが独立カテゴリーとして存在するところに、ACfAで明白に別カテゴリーとして単砲身のチェーンガンが登場したため、ようやく名実を伴うことになった。~
