2024年には『ザ・ファブル』の監督を務めており、齢80を越えて尚TVアニメの制作現場に身を置く日本アニメ界の生き字引的存在。~
“硬派なロボットアニメ専門”というイメージが先行しがちだが、実際には先述した『ママ4』（サンライズ作品としてはほぼ唯一といっていい女児向けアニメ）や『ザ・ファブル』の他、『赤ずきんチャチャ』等にも関わっており、その仕事の幅は意外と広い。

ローラーダッシュや[[パイルバンカー>射突型ブレード]]などのガジェットはどれも高橋作品が発祥と言われ、現在の各種ロボット作品に大きな影響を与えている。~
また、音声対話式の機載コンピュータ(長らく当用語辞典でも氏の作品が発祥とされていた)についても、『ナイトライダー』(1982年の海外ドラマ)という先例こそあれ、ロボットアニメにおいて先鞭をつけたのは『レイズナー』であり、こちらに関してもパイオニア的な面が強い。~
これは勿論ACシリーズも例外ではなく、ACLRではプロデューサーの[[鍋島俊文]]との対談が10作記念DVDに収録されている。

ちなみに対談では鍋島氏の「作り手と受け手の望む物のズレをどう思うか？（要約）」という質問に対し、「かなり諦めちゃってますよ。今やってる企画も『これ多分そんなに当たんないよ』とよく言われる（笑）」「（高橋作品は）僕がいて『当たんない』って言わないでください（笑）」とやや自虐的な発言をして場を爆笑させている。
